Squee~! It's been so long since I got to draw portraits. I've always liked to draw children. My hand was a bit rusty, though. It took me a while to come up with a solid design for the two of them. In particular, it took me forever to decide on the eyes. I've been trying to get rid of some of the japanese influence in my drawings - it's hard to change habits that formed before you were even conscious! Ever since I was old enough to hold a crayon, I've been drawing manga-style people wearing mysterious medallions and capes and space suits! ...Well, that and the occasional robot : ) Hey, I grew up watching anime like Mighty Atom and Ulysses 31 and Captain Harlock, you know?

...Gah~ those were taken off the air in like 1984... none of you will know what I'm talking about (-_-);

Anyway. Today's page was colored on the computer (which takes forfreakingever, I don't know why I insist on doing that these days) but here is the original sketch. I'm selling it for 45$.

And thanks to Kai who agreed to let me use her handwriting as the little girl's "voice". Ironically, I toyed for a long time with the idea of naming this character either Kai or Kay... but again, I decided to fight the japanese influence. Oh! By the way, I have a guest page up over at Kai's comic, Nahim. Well not really, she did the artwork, all I did was color it. Anyway, here it is.
