Chapter 4 : Gate by Biev

Fainting Spells : Gate, page 21. The question to Life, the Universe, and Everything.

Ha! I wanted to try a different style tonight so I used chalk instead of pencil. Funny... once resized, it looks exactly the same (-_-);

Initially the trop frame had a background, but the words were lost in it. I ended up deciding that the question was important enough that nothing should distract you from it. You know, I actually had to start this page over three times. I'm not entirely satisfied with it, but it does look better than what I scribbled on Thursday. The only thing that bothers me right now is that I didn't mean to give my girl Drew Barrymore's lips - how did it come out like that? o.O

Atticus asked whether Aude was modeled after me. The answer is no, though I have to say, since I've been drawing her this way, the idea of short purple hair has really grown on me : P In truth, she is very much my ideal woman. I suppose she takes after all the girls I've admired in the past, though I wasn't thinking of one in particular. My brother thinks little Aude from chapter 1 takes after a girl named Maude who was my best friend as a kid : ) The resemblance was unintentional, but he might be right!

Anyway, I often use the japanese model Sayuri Anzu, who I consider to be the most beautiful woman on earth, as a positioning reference. That's why I sometimes make Aude look too asian, as you can tell from this rejected sketch : ) Aside from that, Aude does share some aspects of my personality and background, but she's a lot more rational and capable (and basically just a lot more sane) than I am. In other words, she's better suited to handle all this whacky stuff : ) I would just go nuts!
