Fainting Spells
: Gate, page 1. Aude splashes into the ocean.

...The sky was an ocean, remember? Poor Aude. Don't worry,
I won't torture her forever.
I'm relatively happy with how this page turned out. I like that
the waves are somewhat messy, and I'm satisfied with the way I drew
Aude's hands and feet, but the water splash - argh, that was a tough
one. Like I know how the water would react, really. It's not like
I've ever been thrown head first into an ocean before... I realize
it's kind of off, but I didn't want to hide her completely with
water. Oh well. Does anybody expect this story to look realistic
at this point? v(' ')v
I don't want to give anything away about chapter 4, so I'll talk
about chapter 3 instead. The inspiration for the whole paperwork
incident comes from my own endless frustration with the immigration
process I'm going through. "Forms, fees and fingerprints"
has been my way of life since the day I decided to move to the United
States. I can't afford a lawyer so I'm stuck figuring out all the
paperwork issues by myself. It's very stressful, because if I slip
up, I'm out of the country (again). So needless to say, paperwork
is always in the back of my mind.
The idea for the disguised waiting room where butterflies act as
customer numbers, came to me while I was sitting in a waiting room
at the local DMV, waiting for someone to issue me a Florida state
ID. There's something about boring, uncomfortable and stressful
situations that just triggers a creative spark : P
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed chapter 3, it's been my favorite so far.
I'm looking at changing my style for chapter 4, but first, I'll
have to plan a little trip to the art store ;o)
